Khloe Kardashian: Being Shamed for My Curves Inspired My New Denim Line

“I remember the chubby girl in me.”

Don’t try calling Khloe Kardashian plus-sized.

“F–k that. I don’t want to be called that—I’m a woman with curves,” said the reality TV star, speaking at Fortune‘s Most Powerful Women Next Gen conference in Laguna Niguel, Calif. on Tuesday.

Before losing weight, Kardashian, whose transformation is the subject of an E! show titled Revenge Body with Khloe Kardashian, said she was “embarrassed to go shopping with my sisters, who are petite”—mostly because clerks in many high-end boutiques were condescending about her size.

She wants Good American to cater to women of all body shapes and sizes. “I remember the chubby girl in me and I’m fighting for my chubby self,” she says.

“F–k that. I don’t want to be called that—I’m a woman with curves,” said the reality TV star, speaking at Fortune‘s Most Powerful Women Next Gen conference in Laguna Niguel, Calif. on Tuesday.

Kardashian is the co-founder of Good American, a denim line offering sizes ranging from 00 to 24. She says that the brand, which launched in October this year, was partially inspired by her experiences shopping with Kim Kardashian and her other famous sisters.

She wants Good American to cater to women of all body shapes and sizes. “I remember the chubby girl in me and I’m fighting for my chubby self,” she says.

“Like a lot of good business ideas, you have to start with a problem,” added Kardashian’s business partner, Emma Grede. The way department stores treat plus-size women is one such problem: “The sizes stop at a 12, but the average woman is a 16.”

“At first, you take on a lot of things that aren’t really authentic and true to you—because you’re young and excited,” said Kardashian.

We wanted to the company to behave like a good American,” said Grede.

“To treat our workers how we would want to be treated.”

Though the brand is just a few months old, the partners already have their eyes on an expansion. Kardashian said that Good American may eventually add a men’s or children’s line, though for now: “I’m just excited to see where it goes.”

Khloe Kardashian Denies Running Sweatshop

Khloe Kardashian’s off-handed joke while promoting her line of denim landed her in hot water after she Snapchatted some videos from the L.A. factory where her Good American jeans are made.

In the Snapchats (video below), Kardashian takes fans along on a tour of the factory, at one point telling a worker, “Don’t f*** it up — all the pressure’s on you and my Good American clients.

That foul-mouthed little joke, however, did not sit well in some quarters of the Twitterverse, with some folks coming out swinging and accusing the “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” star of running a sweatshop — including this tweet, which caught Kardashian’s attention:

Kardashian’s response was quick and definitive, writing:

In a followup tweet, she adds:

Lacey Stone is keeping up with Khloe Kardashian on her “revenge body” fitness reality show

Wellandgood.com: Four years after moving to Los Angeles from New York City, Lacey Stone is ready to make a play for the Hollywood fitness scene—with a little help from a Kardashian.

The superstar trainer will be one of the featured fitness pros on new E! reality series Revenge Body With Khloé Kardashian. Along with a seriously impressive roster of seven other instructors—including Harley Pasternak, Gunnar Peterson, and Simone de la Rue—Stone will be helping contestants overcome traumatic life experiences through fitness. (And, from the looks of the trailer, a little bit of tooth whitening and eye shadow… hey, this is E!)

Part The Biggest Loser, part Extreme Makeover, the concept resonated with Stone because she, too, has had a hard few years since swapping coasts. “In my audition, I explained that I had gone through a divorce myself recently—that’s why I moved to LA—and have really changed my body [since then],” she says. “I’d say that I have a ‘revenge body’ as well! So I’m paired with clients on the show who have gone through similar things as me—being dumped, changing their careers, people not being kind to them.”

Here, Stone explains why joining the reality show came at such a pivotal moment in her personal life.

Stone’s big comeback

In fact, the show marks the first time Stone’s been back in the public eye in a big way since her breakup. “A big part of being a great fitness instructor is being present and having positive energy, and you can’t really give what you don’t have,” she explains. “That’s why I laid low for a while—because I was sad and I needed to get centered again. I questioned whether I even wanted to be a trainer anymore.” She hit another low when her close friend, fashion stylist Annabel Tollman, died suddenly from a blood clot in 2013. But this time she turned her pain into something positive, launching a private bootcamp series in LA called 8 Weeks to Change.

“That was the moment that woke me up and I was like, life is short and you have to do what you love,” she says. “I realized that, in LA, [studios] don’t really foster a team environment, so everybody feels alone. I think people are craving love in this town and a place to belong.” The 20-person camps are now offered in 8-, 4-, and 2-week sessions periodically throughout the year, and they include weekly workouts with Stone, Flywheel classes (where she’s an instructor), nutrition counseling, and daily check-ins with Stone herself. Tryouts for the next round start in early January—that’s right, auditions are required to join. “The way I recruit people is their attitude,” Stone says. “If they’re willing to give me everything they have, they can be part of my team.

Revenge is sweet—seriously

While 2017 has a lot in store for Stone—including a Bali retreat in the spring and clothing collabs on deck with Good Hyouman and Carbon38—Revenge Body’s premiere on January 12 is what’s got her most excited. (So far, there’s no Biggest Loser effect here; Stone says her trainees are both “doing great” since filming ended, and one of them continues to work out with her in LA.)

“I still feel honored that Khloé chose me to share my story with the contestants,” she says.

“They went from thinking life is impossible to believing in their future and in themselves, which they hadn’t done in a long time. That’s what this show is about—taking your haters and turning them into your motivators.”

While the rest of her family were rushing to LA to support Kim and her hospitalized husband Kanye West, Khloe Kardashian had other things on her mind.
The 32-year-old headed from New York to Cleveland, Ohio, instead where she reunited with her NBA beau Tristan Thompson, 25.

The reality star and the Cleveland Cavaliers player put to rest rumors of a break-up as they appeared together at a turkey drive.
The couple were captured on a video shared via Snapchat handing out turkey dinners to families in need.

They were among a number of volunteers at the event held at the historic Greater Friendship Baptist Church in the city.
The bottle blonde wore her hair in a ponytail and had on a stylish black coat as she greeted those in need, some of whom appeared to recognize her.
