The KUWTK star was rolling right along with her Kocktails With Khloé endeavor until it got up and canceled by FYI Network amid many different rumors several weeks ago!
Now, we might be getting a little bit of insight into what’s going on with the cancellation — and it’s coming from Sharone Hakman, the infamous bartender on the show!
Hakman told reporters about his feelings surrounding the show getting nixed
I remember hearing rumors that there wasn’t real alcohol on set, but you’ve mentioned the alcohol was flowing and everyone was having a good time. What do you have to say about the rumors?
Oh no, no, no, no. I make very, very good cocktails. And on top of that, they are generally very stiff. I’m very much a purist when it comes to things like that.
Has there been a guest who secretly was not drinking?
No, not really, actually. I thought that would happen. I get the book at the beginning, like, « This person has this allergy, this person has that allergy, this person doesn’t drink, this person doesn’t like to drink this. » I get this whole list and I’m like, « Oh my god, so basically I can’t serve anything. » But you know what was funny? More often than not, they would come in and drink anything and eat anything. So, I’m like, « OK, you need to talk to your people because they’re telling people you can’t have this. » So that was always funny.
Was Khloé actually drinking?
Oh,yeah. I’m pretty sure.
Who was the most fun guest to have on the show?
I have a lot of fun with rappers. I was a huge Snoop Dogg fan. He came on episode one, that was great. We actually FaceTimed my wife, who is a Snoop Dogg fan. I’m also a big P. Diddy fan as well. I think on every episode I enjoyed everyone. Overall, that was the most surprising thing to me: I thought we would have a lot of ego and « douchebag » personas, and luckily, that wasn’t the case.
That’s amazing. That’s a rare find.
I know! That’s why I’m so bummed about the show, because we had so much fun. It was such a good flow. Just different. Yes, it was very lighthearted in conversation — it wasn’t your everyday sort of interview conversation — but it was good times.
I noticed how the show changed over the season. Like, at the beginning, there were tons of games and near the end there were barely any. Was that in response to criticism?
What I really loved about the production company, and my role and obviously Khloé’s role as the host, was that we all had a really open mind and good attitude. And you gotta understand, this is the first time they tried something in this format. The whole idea was to be different. With that said, we were just trying to adapt and get feedback. You got input from the network, you got input from fans, you got all these other point of views that are coming in, so it’s hard to make everyone happy.
So did you ever have a clue the show was in trouble?
I still honestly don’t know. I mean, there’s rumors about this or that. I have my own opinions. But the reality is that I think we’re all so surprised. It was rating well for the network, it was all positive. So, we were like, « OK, cool, fans are liking it, » and we’re all trying to wrap our heads around how we can continue to grow this and make this interesting and fun. And then bam! It just sort of happened. Wow!
So how did you hear about the show being canceled?
You would think TMZ, right? The production company shared it with me and gave me the news. Obviously quietly, saying, « Hey, confidentially, we’re probably getting canceled. But we’ll find out in the next day or so if it’s going to get canceled after the season, or if it’s gonna just get canceled immediately. » When I found out, I was obviously bummed to hear.
Did Khloé reach out to you after the news broke?
Um, no. No.
Were you upset by that?
Not at all, I mean, no. I’m sure she was upset internally as well. No one wants to get a show canceled. It’s a lot of people’s jobs.
What will you miss most about the show?
Honestly, it was some of the most fun that I’ve had. I’m going to miss the whole team. From hanging out with Khloé in our pre-show meeting and seeing everyone have a good time … And I’m going to miss the production team and my culinary team, who did an amazing job. That makes me sad, because the show had a lot of good people. There’s not one negative thing I can say about anybody, because everybody worked hard and everyone walked away having had a good time.
